 Level-1 (lesson-1)

There are three types of words in arabic-كَلِمَة

1-إِسمٌ-noun

A noun has meaning but no time.

Name          : مُحَمَّدٌ

Place           : London

Idea             : Peace

Adjective     : Big

Adverb        : Quickly

Gender         : Male ,female

Number        : 

etc

2-فِعْلٌ - Verb

A verb has a meaning and has a time.

Past tense      :  travelled-- eg فَعَلَ - to do

Present tense  : travelling

Future tense    :  will travel.

ماضي	مضارع	أمر	نهي
Past tense (He did)	Present tense (he is doing)	Order (do)	Prohibition (don’t do)
فعل	يفعل	إفعل	لا تفعل

3-حَرْفٌ- Preposition (particle)

Preposition has no meaning and no time unless it will come with a noun or verb.

meaning	preposition

about	عَنْ
on/upon	عَلَي
To /towards	إِلَي
in	فِي
in/with	بِ
for	لِ

Arabic Word Categories

Here are some fundamental Arabic word categories with examples:

  (fī) – "in"

  (huwa) – "he"

• الظُّرُوفُ (Adverbs - ظَرْف)

  (hunā) – "here"

• حُرُوفُ العَطْفِ (Conjunctions - حَرْف عَطْف)

  وَ
  (wa) – "and"

• أَدَوَاتُ التَّعَجُّبِ (Interjections - أَدَاة تَعَجُّب)

  آهِ
  (āhi) – "Oh!/Ah!"
