There are three types of words in arabic-كَلِمَة
1-إِسمٌ-noun
A noun has meaning but no time.
Name : مُحَمَّدٌ
Place : London
Idea : Peace
Adjective : Big
Adverb : Quickly
Gender : Male ,female
Number :
etc
2-فِعْلٌ - Verb
A verb has a meaning and has a time.
Past tense : travelled-- eg فَعَلَ - to do
Present tense : travelling
Future tense : will travel.
3-حَرْفٌ- Preposition (particle)
Preposition has no meaning and no time unless it will come with a noun or verb.

كِتَابٌ(kitābun) – "a book" -
الأَفْعَالُ
يَقْرَأُ(yaqra’u) – "he reads" -
الصِّفَاتُ
كَبِيرٌ(kabīrun) – "big" -
حُرُوفُ الجَرِّ
فِي(fī) – "in" -
الضَّمَائِرُ
هُوَ(huwa) – "he" -
الظُّرُوفُ
هُنَا(hunā) – "here" -
حُرُوفُ العَطْفِ
وَ(wa) – "and" -
أَدَوَاتُ التَّعَجُّبِ
آهِ(āhi) – "Oh!/Ah!"
